Reflections of Hilton Head

By, Adult Participants and Church Group Members

"My most fond part of the week was visiting the Children's Center and spending the most beautiful time with the 12-15 month old babies. On multiple occasions I was blessed to be able to feed several children a bottle, and even more thrilled to have them feel comfortable enough to go to sleep in my arms (2 at a time in several cases). Not since my own children were that age have I felt the peace and serenity involved in being blessed by God to be a part of a child's life in such a touching and tender way." Joelย  Adult Church Group Member

"I've visited Hilton Head tons of times because my best friend lives here. Every time I have come through it's been to hangout and go to the beach. This week I've seen a completely different side of the island. I didn't realize all of the poverty on the island and it has completely changed my aspect of it. I would like to visit these ministries and more when I come back in the future and hopefully plant more seeds and minister to more people. This island is an island I love and I only want the best for it." Adult Individual Participant

"I loved the food bank ministry (Sandalwood Food Pantry). Our church is working on starting one and it gave us some great ideas of dos and don'ts. I also loved the friendly, loving atmosphere at Bloom. It wasn't like any nursing home around our church. You could feel Christ once you walked in. The staff was so sweet and friendly. They appreciated even the smallest thing we did." Susan Adult Church Participant

"The last song that I listened to on my way here as Toby Mac's "Speak Life". As soon as the group leader, Laura, met with us on the first "Yellow Chair Session" night- she said that was our focus this week- "Speak Life- inside of us, outside of us" It was a really awe inspiring moment! "Lift your voice a little higher. Use your words to inspire. Speak Life" Toby Mac From Amanda- Adult Individual Participant (*Note: The Yellow Chair Sessions are our nightly worship/ teaching/activity time in Hilton Head)
