Ask the Lord

Thursday afternoon our ministry schedule read “ATL”.

After some teaching time on ‘listening prayer’, they prayed asking God “what do You want us to do this afternoon?”   The students shared with group leaders any answers they were getting from God to that question.  The leaders met together, and the conclusion was to buy gift cards from a grocery store and then hand them out to people.

A call was made to a ministry partner serving those in need on the island.  She suggested Cordillo Courts, which is just down the street from the church.  They bought the gift cards, and set out to meet people, asking God to guide them.

It was exciting to hear them share the things God was doing through them.  They heard people’s stories, some very heartbreaking, and prayed with them.  Some accepted an invitation to come to our host church’s services on Sunday.  One teen was looking for a church where he could attend and be in a youth group.

I was excited to hear God had led them to Cordillo Courts.  The Christian Ed director had shared with me earlier in the week that he was going to coach soccer in this community, to build relationships with folks there.

The youth group’s leader was fluent in Spanish, and this, unbeknownst to any of us until the team arrived, was a Spanish neighborhood.

We saw how God had planned for this ministry.
