Every time I went to Hilton Head last summer for a mission trip, people would almost mock me for going to such a tourist location on the beach. They would be like, "You are going to Hilton Head for a mission trip? Yeah right."
People didn't understand that Hilton Head could be a place to minister to. Even talking with the participants on the trip, I realized that everyone was pretty much getting the same response.
So why should you go to Hilton Head?
Hilton Head has a diverse population between the people who live there, the people that work there and the people who visit the island every year. Just by walking down the beach, you could run into people that are from all walks of life and you never know when someone needs to hear a word from the Lord. Are you willing to share the words that God has placed on your heart for these people?
At the boys and girls club, there are several children just looking for the attention of others. They are looking for the love of Jesus through play and hugs. Many of these children would be left home alone or with other siblings if it weren't for boys and girls club. Are you willing to go share Jesus' love with these children?
With several assistant living and nursing homes on the island, there are several residents that are just looking for a visitor young or old to share their stories and sing songs. Many of the residents don't get visitors so they often only see the staff and other residents. Are you willing to take time out of your day to give company to the elderly?
Be the hands and feet of Jesus. Share his words. And be willing to love the orphans and the widows (people on the island). Go
