We started our day with a full schedule and not so promising weather forecast. The weather didn’t stop us from completing odd jobs at the church. We were able to clean buildings, forge trails, and restore the shine to the church bus. The other half of the group got the opportunity to volunteer with habitat for humanity. By the end of the morning there, a entire home was painted and one step closer to completion for the family. The smaller groups in the afternoon were able to go to various children organizations to help in different capacities. I had the chance to interact with special needs teens at the rec. Some of the kids were thrilled to see us and were quick to approach us while others were a bit more hesitant. It was special to see how in a short time we could overcome barriers and connect with different people in different ways. It was a time to let our goofy side out, laugh,
and find joy in little moments of life.
Jesus said,”Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14
